Peabody - Ready for adoption

PEABODY is a special needs cat who needs a very special home. Peabody is a short-haired brown tabby NEUTERED adult and is one of the nicest, most affectionate kitties we have ever had at the shelter. He loves to sit on your lap facing you, put his paws on your shoulders and stare into your face with his big green eyes. You just melt. He is calm and extremely gentle. Peabody arrived at the shelter already neutered, but was incontinent, had trouble controlling his bowels and was checked by a vet. It is possible he suffered some type of injury because who would neuter an incontinent cat? He has slowly gotten much, much better, but we do not know if he will every fully recover. His bedding now stays dry, but sometimes he has an accident and there is poop outside his litter pan. His tail no longer hangs straight down, but it is still limp. Peabody has never seemed to be in any pain––even when the vet examined him by pressing on several areas of his body. He can easily jump from the floor to your lap, which is where he always wants to be, and has no problem walking. (When holding him, we just put a towel on our lap in case he dribbles a bit.) Peabody is not a “barn cat” because he loves to be around people, but he would be a great “garden cat” or “patio cat” in a home where someone wants a loving companion and can give him lots of attention. Since he is already neutered, the waiting time for him to go home with you is minimal.

Please use PEABODY’s intake number (AO47226) when making inquiries at the shelter.

All cats available for adoption at the Calaveras Animal Shelter are up-to-date on their routine vaccines and tested negative for FIV/FELV. All cats adopted at the shelter will be microchipped. All unaltered cats must be spayed or neutered before they can go home with you.
