Wendy’s Page – Pet Memorials
Those of us who love our animals know that their time with us is too short. You may pay tribute on this Pet Memorials page to the place your Best Friend had in your life and your heart by filling out the form on our Donate page and making a donation. Please use the box to type in a paragraph in memory of your pet and send a photo to chs@calaverashumane.org, letting us know that it is an accompanying photo to your submission for the Pet Memorials page. This page is dedicated to the memory of Wendy, the beloved pet of former CHS president Mickey Williamson.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together…. — Author unknown
TRACKER: Laid To Rest on May 18, 2013
Fox River Tracker, or “Tracker” for short, has been my best friend for the last 16 years. For his sake, but not mine, he will go to his rest May 18, 2013. The hole he will leave in my heart is already a terrible one. Goodbye, my Tracks, my beautiful friend. May angel dogs greet you. I will miss you so much. I love you forever, and I’ll see you in heaven soon.
In memory of Frankie, Sydney and Tracker.

SAM: March 17, 2000 – July 15, 2012
Sam (UKC-CDX SR Penmars Play It Again UD, JH, RN, WCX) passed away in my arms Sunday, July 15th. He was one in a million–my gentle soul–who would do anything for me, even let me go through the door first. He loved his obedience and hunt tests until he lost his hearing 2 years ago. Whenever he was happy, he loved to nip women’s butts, especially when in obedience and when circling the figures and stewards. He had a fetish for lights (chasing their reflections), vacuum cleaners, and lawn mowers–he considered lawn mowers to be his enemy. Part of me has gone with him, but I know he is in a better place and that I will meet him there when my time comes.

CODY: 1998 (adopted) – 2011
Cody, AKA Ghandi changed our family’s life the moment we began our “babysitting” adventure. He was incredibly loving, thoughtful, peaceful, honoree and any other positive thing you can say about a best friend. This dedication is in honor of him for my mother whom he loved unconditionally until the day he crossed to the Rainbow Bridge. And even now I have no doubt he is watching over her, guarding her and loving her even more as she continues to make her journey toward the rainbow bridge where they shall meet again.

WENDY: June 10, 1991 – March 31, 2003
For those of you who knew Wendy, or knew of her….. Adopted San Francisco SPCA. Drifted quietly into the next life, with the help of a few cc’s of pink stuff, after a full year or more of living with Cushing’s Disease, always in the moment, always with dignity and acceptance. Wendy was never really a dog. She was her own person, and she generously made room in her life for us. Now she is free to run like the wind again. She was an old soul who knew more than she could tell. And all who knew her will never forget “the look.” We will miss her; the cats will miss her.

SABRINA: July 28,1989 – June 30, 2003
Sabrina was a chocolate miniature poodle and a more agreeable dog it would be hard to find. She liked men, women, kids, cats and other dogs, but most of all she loved me. She was my shadow and my mind reader. I loved her dearly and miss her terribly and hope she is waiting at the Rainbow Bridge.

REX: Jan. 1972 – Sept. 1987
Rex the Wonder Dog…..It’s a wonder that he made it for 15 years. Rex came from the Orange County Pound and was our first “child” before we had children. He went to the desert, the beach, and the mountains with us. He helped us raise kittens, other puppies/dogs and even my children. What a great “pound puppy” you were Rex. Missed daily and loved forever….I know you’re there waitin’.

MARVIN O’GRAVEL BALOONFACE: 1991 – 2001
Marvin O’Gravel Balloonface, named after a Dr. Suess character, was a character in and of his own self!! Gregarious, affectionate, a dog in a cat’s body . . . you came with me from an old life and helped me transition into my current one. Thank you for helping me cross that bridge, and I hope to meet you when I cross the next . . .

TANK: Dec. 2003 – Nov. 18, 2004
Tank’s short but full life enriched our lives everyday. He was a true companion and touched us deeply. “Tanky” was born with a SAS heart murmur, so physically his heart was weak, but in spirit he had more heart than most. Although Tank was still a pup, he was well beyond his years. He had so much love to share and never failed to bring a smile to our face. His heart here limited him, but now he is free to run. We say “Run Free Little Tanky! …we will miss you and love you always.

JEAN CLAUDE,”YUCCA”: Dec. 25, 1988 – Feb. 13, 2005
Jean Claude was a loving and cheerful companion to Lisa, Molly, and Jeff. He was ever ready for a game of freeze and chase, and because he only knew love and tenderness from his family, he believed in the goodness and play-worthiness of all people. He came by his nickname, “Yucca” because Molly couldn’t pronounce Jean Claude. For sixteen years he was the baby of the family, living much longer than his doctor expected due to Lisa’s devoted care. He and his dear ways will be very much missed.
