California law requires dogs riding in truck beds to be safely secured (in a crate or cage, or cross-tethered in such a way that they cannot hang themselves). The law makes an exception for dogs “owned or employed by a ranching or farming operation,” but only when being transported for purposes associated with that business.
The majority of non-working pet dogs would prefer riding in the cab with their owners, or just staying home if the truck bed is the only option. It’s unsafe and dangerous. Let ’em ride shotgun, or leave ’em home. ❤🐾
