Spay Neuter Voucher

In collaboration with Calaveras County Animal Services, we have been awarded a major grant from California For All Animals (funding provided for animal shelters by our state’s governor).

This grant will provide dramatically increased assistance for low-income folks in Calaveras County who are struggling to afford spay/neuter for their dogs and cats.

Spay Neuter Voucher Values

Female dogs: $250 off

Male dogs: $175 off

Female cats: $175 off

Male cats: $125 off

PLUS: $20 toward a rabies vaccine AND $25 toward a microchip, if needed.

Where Can I Use The Voucher?

Most veterinary hospitals in Calaveras, Amador, Tuolumne, and San Joaquin Counties participate.

Vouchers are NOT accepted at Calaveras Veterinary Clinic in San Andreas.

Requesting A Voucher

FIRST:

  • Make an appointment with a participating vet

THEN:

  • Call our office at (209) 736-9417, or Calaveras Animal Services at (209) 754-6509, and supply the necessary information over the phone
  • You may also request a voucher in person at our Angels Camp office or at Calaveras Animal Services in San Andreas at least two weeks in advance of the surgery date
  • Request your voucher at least 10 days prior to your pet’s surgery. Last-minute requests might not be able to be honored.

Who Qualifies?

It’s simple! You must be a Calaveras County resident.

(Once the funds are depleted, the vouchers will no longer be available, so we appreciate if folks who can comfortably afford surgery for their pets leave the vouchers for those with genuine need.)

The Fine Print

Any “leftover” funds on your voucher  (i.e., if the cost for surgery, rabies vaccine, and microchip are less than the voucher’s value) are NOT applicable toward any other services, or for a future date.

Vouchers are not valid for feral cats.

Not for use by rescue groups or nonprofits. Personal pets only, please.

Limit three vouchers per household. We will let you know if this changes.

The veterinary clinic you choose may require an appointment for a physical exam before they will do surgery. You are responsible for this cost if they do.
