Time and again, wonderful folks tell us, “I donate to the humane society!” Often, what they actually mean is that they donate to the Humane Society of the United States, which is NOT affiliated with local humane societies like us.
HSUS is primarily focused on legislation, and does NOT “kick down” the donations they get to local organizations like ours. In fact, even though 85% of their fundraising materials and commercials feature shelter animals, they do not operate a single pet shelter.
