We’re so excited to share these amazing figures with you!
Today marks exactly two months since the opening of our first full-service shelter and adoption center. In that time, we’ve placed 62 cats and kittens and 22 dogs and puppies into loving new homes with adopters from near and far.
Our adoptions have far exceeded our projections and even our wildest hopes, and we’re just thrilled that so many families have chosen to adopt a shelter pet from our organization.
The majority of our animals have come to us as surrenders from their owners, but we have also been able to accept numerous transfers from our own county’s animal care and control agency as well as two other municipal shelters in adjacent counties.
And we’ve already distributed more than HALF A TON of food to low-income Calaveras residents in need through our Pet Food Bank. Dozens of households are currently enrolled to receive monthly food for their pets to supplement what they’re able to provide. The best part? One hundred percent of the food we’ve given out has been donated to us by our caring community.
