Neo, three months, came to us from a hoarding situation with a LOT of dogs.
Our best guess is that Neo is a chihuahua/dachshund mix, commonly known as a “chiweenie.” His legs are pretty darn short.
As a result of his lack of early socialization, Neo is shy. He comes out of his shell if you are patient and sweet to him for a little while. Because he is young, we expect Neo to gain confidence as he grows. He might not ever have the swagger of a dog with a less sketchy start, but he can say with certainty that he will be a delightful companion for his personal or family.
Based on Neo’s current weight of eight pounds, we expect he’ll be 25-ish pounds as an adult.
Dogs from hoarding cases require extra effort from their adopters. They need kindness and patience as they settle in, and sometimes are starting from scratch on housetraining and other basics.
