We Are Delighted To Announce The Pet Food Bank Is Now Open
News Update: June 27, 2020
Food Donations Needed
We’re open again and our Pet Food Bank has been hoppin’ lately with many new households signing up. We’re very happy to be able to help members of our community who are having difficulty affording food for their beloved pets.
Right now we are in particular need of medium and small sized bags of dry dog food. If you’re able, we appreciate donations of any brand (unopened bags only, please).
You may drop food by our adoption center during our open hours, OR do a quick ‘n’ easy order from our Amazon Wishlist (free shipping for Prime members!).
We’re extremely proud of this 100% donor-supported program. THANK YOU for your generosity! ❤️🐾

Changes For Covid-19 Shelter In Place Duration
Even though our shelter and adoption center is closed to the public during the COVID-19 situation, we will keep our Pet Food Bank operational for the hundreds of local dogs and cats who depend on receiving food. We are committed to helping — especially now, when they need us most.
If you are ALREADY ENROLLED as a client of our Pet Food Bank, you can make an appointment in advance for curbside pickup of your monthly food allotment. Please call (209) 736-9417 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to make arrangements.
We’re sorry, but we will be unable to enroll new participants in the program until after the shelter-in-place directive is lifted.
As always, we thank everyone who helps support this program with your food donations! The pet food received by our clients is more crucial now than ever before. ❤️🐾
News Update: March 14, 2019
We’ve had a big surge over the last couple months in the number of low-income county residents enrolling in our Pet Food Bank program.
We have an urgent need for DOG FOOD right now. Unopened bags of any brand, unexpired, are welcome to be dropped off during our regular business hours (Wednesday through Sunday, 11-5).
We’ve also updated our Amazon Wishlist with affordable options if you’d like to order online and have it delivered to us directly — free shipping for Prime members on all our wishlist items!
Thank you to everyone who so generously supports this program. We couldn’t do it without you. We firmly believe our Pet Food Bank helps keep much-loved pets out of shelters and in their homes. ❤️🐾
News Update: December 18, 2019
We want to give our heartfelt thanks to everyone who responded to our most recent request for food for our Pet Food Bank. The walk-in donations and deliveries from Amazon have been absolutely overwhelming, in the best possible way.
This program, providing pet food monthly for low-income Calaveras households with hundreds of animals, is 100% donor-supported. Such a shining example of how members of our community care for one another! ♥️🐾
News Update: December 9, 2019
With the holidays fast approaching, our Pet Food Bank has been hoppin’. We’re very happy to be able to help members of our community who are having difficulty affording food for their beloved pets, especially this time of year.
Our stash is running dangerously low, though, particularly on dry dog food. If you’re able, we appreciate donations of ANY brand (unopened bags only, please). You can drop food by our adoption center during open hours, OR do a quick ‘n’ easy order from our Amazon Wishlist (link below — free shipping for Prime members) and have it sent right to us.
We’re very proud that this program is 100% donor-supported, and we want to keep it that way. Our Pet Food Bank is a shining example of the very best of our community: Neighbors helping neighbors. THANK YOU for your support! ♥️🐾
News Update: October 18, 2019
We’ve gone through nearly all the food everyone donated a couple months ago to our Pet Food Bank (we shared a large amount with our friends at The Resource Connection Food Bank, to make the food easier for those in need to obtain), and are now reaching out to ask our generous supporters to help replenish our stock.
An important goal of your Calaveras Humane Society is to keep animals that are loved right in their homes where they belong.
Donations may be brought to our shelter during open hours, and we’ve updated our Amazon Wishlist with a number of low-cost selections (free shipping for Prime members!).
Only dry food needed at this time — we’re all set with canned. We particularly need dry CAT food. For kitties, we absolutely love the 6-lb. bags, though larger bags are of course welcome as well. For dog food, the 15 to 22-lb. bags are best for our needs.
Thank you in advance to our wonderful community for helping keep this essential program going! ♥️🐾

We Asked, You Answered!
We recently asked for donations to our Pet Food Bank, and my oh my, did our community ever come through! The Amazon Fairies delivered more than 700 pounds of food to us thanks to your generosity. We’re blown away, and so very grateful.
We try to be judicious and only ask for things when we have legitimate need — so you won’t be hearing us request pet food for a while. We are all set!
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed. The families participating in our Pet Food Bank, and their pets, are thankful too. ♥️🐾
