Blue heeler mix Ralphie is a sweet, gentle soul.
Ralphie spent a pretty good amount of time in a very noisy, overwhelming, and overcrowded shelter before we transferred him in. It has taken him a while to decompress with us and fully relax.
We gave Ralphie the time and space he needed to feel secure. He was very shut down and spent a lot of time lying on his bed, just taking in his surroundings.
Ralphie has blossomed, as we knew he would. He now adores his primary caretakers, squeaky toys, and balls
It can take a bit of time for him to be comfortable with new people. (He acts like he’s indifferent when meeting folks. He’s not. He’s just deciding if you’re going to be kind to him.)
Ralphie is just 18 months old. He has been very neutral with other animals, including cats. We expect he will continue to learn that he’s living the good life once he has a home of his own,
