The Data Is In!

Crunchin’ the annual numbers now that all the data is in!

We’re absolutely delighted with what we’re seeing as we’re looking over our stats for the year.

A few highlights we’d love to share:

▪ We launched our super-duper spay/neuter assistance vouchers in collaboration with Calaveras County Animal Services in August 2024. In 2025, 705 more pets in Calaveras County were fixed at low or no charge for owners needing help to afford the procedure. This brings the grand total of pets receiving surgery (and a rabies vaccine and microchip if needed) via this grant-funded program to 1,018! (This program has concluded now that the grant monies are depleted.)

▪ We’ve seen a steady increase year over year in the number of local residents needing assistance through our Pet Food Bank. Our enrollment swelled by another 15% this year and there are now 329 households coming monthly to pick up free dog and/or cat food so that their pets can remain in the homes where they’re loved. Food insecurity continues to be a real issue in our area.

▪ A bit over half of the dogs and puppies we adopted out this year were transfers from local municipal/government shelters. The remainder were surrendered from members of our community. Our transfer partners are thrilled when we’re able to help alleviate their overcrowding, and we are usually able to place the pups in a short amount of time. Freeing up kennel space at these facilities directly helps to reduce euthanasia. Also, our ability to take owner surrenders when we can reduces the burden on our county’s animal care and control. Everyone wins!

Here’s to more success in 2026!
